I have tried this and unfortunately it does not work - at least with PDFs (other file types print OK).
I'm wondering if it because my printer is too old and/or my Mac is too new:
Laserjet HP 6MP
MacOS Ventura 13.2.1
I did the HP software uninstall and then installed the drivers package (HP 6MP is on the list).
I have also installed Rosetta through Terminal.
The printer was working fine (including printing PDFs) until today, when I selected several PDFs in Finder and then Print. That's when I got the dreaded Filter Failed message.
Further suggestions would be welcomed.

@JohnSH1- what application you are using to print PDF files? to deny any application specific problem.
Additionally, I would also suggest trying a different USB cable to deny a cable failure, any such may cause this type of behavior as well.

Like Newtomac56 I was having issues with the HP printer and Mac OS 13. When I tried the updated version of the HP driver, I would get the 1st few lines or half the doc printed.
Following your steps and all is working again.
HP service is non-existant except at $20 or more a month.
Thanks
