If you have an older Laserjet printer, simply labelled Laserjet on the front panel, in contrast to new models that will be called Laserjet Pro or Laserjet Enterprise, Laserjet Managed or Pagewide.
Here is the latest list of supported older Laserjet printers and instructions on drivers to use for these printers.

@LouLou15- please download and install below drivers:
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US
Make sure the printer is connected and Ready, open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then press the plus sign.
select your printer and make sure you select the printer model within the Use drop-down menu and try printing.

Hi @Shlomil
Thank you I have I have downloaded you link the printer is there but it is still saying Filter failed?
Before you say it the it is saying with a green dot printer is idle so it recognises it.
I have cancelled it and then tried printing again and now the slider is just bouncing backwards and forwards saying looking for printer, it says that it is offline and the printer in preferences dot goes yellow saying in use but the queue box says offline even though it was on line?.
Thank you
