Hi @Elal613,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the 0x6100004a error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 typically indicates a carriage jam, which can be caused by physical obstructions, an issue with the printhead, or incorrectly seated cartridges. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to resolve the issue:
1. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 2–3 minutes to allow the printer to fully reset.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Check if the error is resolved.
2. Inspect the Carriage Path
- Open the printer’s access door to locate the cartridge area.
- Ensure the carriage (the mechanism holding the cartridges) moves freely from left to right.
- If it’s stuck, gently push it to the center.
- Look for and remove any paper jams or obstructions in the carriage path.
3. Reinstall the Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door and remove all the cartridges.
- Inspect the cartridges for damage, such as leaks or tears in the electrical contacts.
- Wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place properly.
- Close the door and check if the error is resolved.
4. Clean the Printhead
- Remove the cartridges and set them aside.
- Carefully remove the printhead (refer to the printer’s manual for guidance).
- Clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the printhead and reinstall the cartridges.
5. Reset the Printer
Perform a partial reset:
- Disconnect the power cable while the printer is on.
- Press and hold the # and 3 buttons on the printer.
- While holding the buttons, reconnect the power cable and turn the printer on.
- Release the buttons once the printer restarts.
6. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Download the latest firmware update for your printer from the HP Support website.
- Follow the instructions to install the update.
- Check if the error is resolved.
7. Perform a Factory Reset
- Navigate to the Settings menu on the printer’s touchscreen.
- Select Printer Maintenance or Tools, then choose Restore Factory Settings.
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
