I am trying to print 100 x 150 photos from the photo tray but get a yellow triangle in the Printer prefences | Paper/Quality | paper Source box when I select photo tray.
Under Layout | Advanced | 100 x 150 is not available from the dropdown list
If I select Photo Printing-Borderless from the printing shortcut I get an 'Incompatable Print Settings' error box.
I have uninstalled all the HP software and reinstalled it with no change.
Anyone any ideas?

Is that mm or cm in size?

For those printers that provide a separate photo tray, the photo tray likely supports the smaller paper (4x6"). Unless indicated otherwise, plan on loading "other" size photo paper into the main tray. Read the User Guide for details, section "Load media".
This printer may or may not support Custom paper sizes in Windows. The Specifications say "Not"; the printer software is "new enough" that it may provide this feature.
The "combination" of settings must be acceptable, else you will see the tiny yellow triangle of doom - nothing works unless all the settings are compatible with one another.
Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows)
For example:
Media type = Photo Paper
Source = Photo tray
Paper size = 4x6 inches
"Approximate" sizes do not work - the photo tray for example, is likely restricted to the small paper (4x6 inches") and perhaps the small paper "tabbed" (4x6.5 inches, though the paper will likely be called 4x6 tabbed and NOT indicated by "inches").
If the paper in the selected tray (for best results, do not leave "automatic" or similar), does not match the allowed Media type (photo paper), or if the borderless setting is set and the paper size does not support borderless, the tiny yellow triangle of doom will show up. Although the printer knows what it "cannot do", it cannot always tell you exactly what is wrong. This code limitation is similar to the mystery Microsoft messages that say something useless ("You can't do that").
Try using HP Photo Creations - the software can help reduce errors by providing step by step instructions to print your photos / projects. Help is available from Photo Creations Support Staff (during normal business hours.)
Download, Save, and install:
After the software is installed:
Click Start (windows key) > all apps > scroll the list
Open Category HP
Find the HP Photo Creations application

IF the printer software supports Custom Paper Sizes, one of the following should work to access the Custom Form setup:
- Two methods to assign custom paper size forms
Availability depends on printer model and software and Operating System / Version
- Devices and Printers > Print Server Properties
- Printer Preferences > Print Dialog > Paper / Quality > Custom setting
Example 1
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >
Left-Click on your Printer one time to highlight >
Left-Click Print Server Properties (along the top ribbon)
Example 2
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >
Right-Click on your Printer > If necessary, select printer from drop down menu / list
Printing Preferences > tab Paper/Quality > Custom
- Depending on Printer Model / Software, changing the paper in the tray may require that the paper settings be adjusted on the printer control panel.
- Open Tray > Change Paper > Check printer control panel: “Modify” > select “Custom” > OK)

Regardless of paper sizes, only those sizes listed in the Specifications > Paper Handling as compatible with borderless printing can, in fact, print borderless.

Dragon-Fur,
Thank you for your reply.
There is not an option for custom paper size that I can find, only those sizes listed in my first screen shot.
The printer control panel does support 100mm x 150mm (6" x 4") in it's display.
I am sure that it did support this paper size at some time but I haven't tried to use it for more than a year.

Click on Printing Shortcut then Photo Printing-Borderless in Printing preferences.

I don't know.
If the printer offers the statement "did you change the paper", it seems that it would allow you to tap the control panel on the paper / tray you want to use. Although the wording is different on my printer (Officejet Pro 8740), the choice to change / verify / tap the choices is available after the paper is changed in the tray.
Regardless, the Specifications do not show this Photo paper in this size as available for borderless printing.

If the printer is on the network, you can try using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to set the default paper preferences. Using EWS will NOT fix incompatibility issues, of course.
General Example - YOUR printer and setup will likely look much different. Most obvious, the Example printer does not even have a photo tray (though it does have two standard trays).
EWS_Settings_Preferences_Paper_8740_1
If the printer does not sense the photo paper in the tray, it can decide there is no paper in the tray. Load the tray with 5-8 sheets of photo paper, face (printed side) down, short ends front/back.
The Order in which you select the options can make a difference. For example, if you try to select the paper size without having first selected the Media type or the Source, the "combination" may later balk because "plain paper" is not compatible with the Photo Tray. Which one first? Try it.
For example:
Media type = photo paper
Source = photo tray
Size = 4x6"
Honestly, I don't see a way to get what you want. I don't have your printer -- I could be missing something obvious.

Thanks, I had tried the EWS and that also allows for 15cm x 10cm photo paper.
The same also happens if I click borderless photos.
It appears to me as although the printer supports that size paper in the Photo tray, the Windows driver doesn't.
