2700 series wireless printer prints one page, stops, then requires printer button to continue print

2700 series wireless (HP89CFC8)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

2700 series wireless printer prints one page, stops, then requires printer arrow button to continue printing. This did not occur when first installed, but is consistent now.

@paulr99

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Also, try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Let me know if this helps.

No sorry, tried those suggestions. Still the same problem. Tried several times. A dud I think, unless you have any other ideas.

Let's reset the Printer's network settings: Press the Wireless button ( ) and the Cancel button ( ) from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Once done try connecting the Printer to the Wi-Fi.

No, did not help, in fact now I cannot connect to wifi again - so situation is worse! HP Smart says printer is offline and to press refresh and then 'continue setup'. When I press continue setup, all I get is a screen endlessly trying to connect to something.

I should say that I have been using dot matrix printers since the 1980s, so not a newbie at this.

Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart App.

If the issue persists, try these steps:

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue still persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
