Hi all
I got a HP DeskJet 4130e about 2 years ago. I needed it to print postage labels off. When I printed the PDFs the are tightly aligned to the left hand side of the page and leaving a large gap to the righthand side. This means that the information is not being printed on the A4 label sheets correctly. The labels were unusable as when you peeled them off the sheet lots of the information was overlapping to to other labels (by about 3mm).
I am trying to resolve this isssue now. I have printed word documents and strecthed the margains to the full width of the page to see will the text print the full way - I have noticed it is leaving a gap of about 1cm on the righthand side of the page (image attached).
I have updated the firmware and everything. I am now starting to think maybe it is a hardware issue? I seriously considering just getting rid of it and buying a new one. I am having to pay a 3rd party everyday to print off PDFs on to A4 label sheets and it is such an inconvience. Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Printer Hardware
Yes - the odd margins might be due (at least) in part to limitations built into the printer hardware.
That said, I cannot explain the margins shoved all the way to the left edge of the paper.
The printer does not support Borderless -- the result likely means the print is not aligned where it belongs on the paper.
What?
Economy DeskJet printers might include margin limitations not found in more expensive printer models.

Operating System / Version and App / Software
I am not sure - perhaps you are using Windows -
IF the margins in the document you need to print are not smaller than the 1/2 inch / 12.7mm margins that the printer can support, you might be able to print that document after exporting the document to PDF format.
An example PDF label printing is included later in this message.

Important Note
The how-to information included in this message is dependent on what the printer can do.
Margins
DeskJet printers, including this model, typically require a larger margin along the bottom edge.
If you rotate the print, the larger margin moves to the side.
Borderless Printing | No |
Print Margin Bottom (A4) | 12.7 mm |
Print Margin Left (A4) | 3 mm |
Print Margin Right (A4) | 3 mm |
Print Margin Top (A4) | 3 mm |
There is no software, firmware, or alignment that changes the larger margin requirement.
The solution to "chopped off" is to keep all data inside of 1/2 inch / 12.7mm on the bottom edge.
This limitation includes all text, images, page numbers, footer information, cells, tables, lines, other notations, and all file types, too.
Create your original document with 12.7mm ( 1/2 inch ) margins.

PDF Printing
Consider
Export the Word document to PDF
Use Adobe Reader to print the label document
