You should have a really easy option here to connect the printer to your network. If you install the printer via USB then there should be a way to activate the USB to Wireless setup wizard which should convert the machine over from a wired connection to a wireless connection. Let me know if this works for you and I will get right back to you!

PS I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Hi - I have just purchased the HP 4620 and am having difficulties setting up the wireless aspect - I have the blue blinking light and the only option I have to connect seems to be push button or PIN which I don't think works with and Airport Extreme router ... I am obviously missing something simple but would appreciate some assistance!

Hi bashypack

I understand you need assistance setting up the wireless network.

The wps quick wireless setup feature supports routers not airports.

I have included a document for setting up the wireless connection.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03161978

This printer has the 'HP Auto Wireless Connect' or you can set the printer up  ' Using a USB Connect to configure the wireless'.

If you need more assistance just let me know.

Hi,

I have had to redo my network in the office and now have to redo wireless setup of the HP 4620 and am having difficulties setting up the wireless aspect - I have the blue blinking light and the only option I have to connect seems to be pushing the WPS button or PIN which I now know does not work with our Airport Extreme AP's. The router we use does not have this function...

I reinstalled driver and software (OJ4620_1315.EXE). Can now print via USB direct from the PC when it is connected. when I add a new printer and select connection option WIRELESS the software checks the network environment then asks me to temporarily connect the printer via usb to the PC. Problem is that I do this but it never gives me an option to click next.

HP Print and Scan doctor does not report any issues.

How can I print via USB and the HP software cannot detect the Printer via USB to setup the wireless on the printer?

I am obviously missing something... Would appreciate some assistance!

Hi Jakesf1,

Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to switch from a USB connection to a wireless connection for your Officejet 4620 printer.

I have included a link to a document on installing the printer onto a wireless network. There is a sub-section under each operating system with steps on how to switch from a USB connection to a wireless connection.

I followed the instructions given here (multiple times) and at the end of the usb setup for wireless, it told me it is unable to connect.

Next?

Operating system is Windows 7
