My previous printer was a simple C309a, and it did Borderless printing. However, having splashed out quite a bit of money for what I thought would be a far superior print device, I've just discovered that it doesn't have the capability for borderless printing.
Is this some kind of hoax? In the 21st Century, HP is creating print devices which are incapable of printing an A4 borderless sheet? If this is the case, then someone in design should be fired immediately!!!! How on earth can you charge at least triple the cost of an inferior model without the device having AT LEAST everything the inferior device has?
In most respects the 476DW is excellent, but this is a real let-down since my discovery. One of the things I need to do is to have the facility to print borderless A4. Every print device I've owned for years has had that facility.
Welcome back to the stone age HP!
So the question is - when will HP update the 476DW to include the extremely valuable feature known as borderless printing???

Hi,
An inferior device would not be a good description for a such, the HP Photosmart C309 is a Photo printer, intended for hight quality photo printing... the M476dw is itended for daily office business a completely different intention...
I'm not sure about your exact model? is it the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dw Printer?
Any HP Laser printer does not support borderless pritning due to technical limitations and a completely different way of a laser printer and a toner cartidge to work than an inkjet printer.

I have the HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP
As with the C309a this is an MFP i.e. Multi Function Printer. Yes, the C309a DOES print photographs, but so does the X476dw. Even with a photograph I still prefer to print borderless most of the time, but the X476dw doesn't do it.
Both devices are described by HP as Multi Funtion Printers. They scan, they copy, they fax, they print - just because the C309a has the word Photosmart in the name doesn't mean it only prints high quality photographs. But the comparatively cheap C309a also prints on CD/DVD, and has the facility to print BORDERLESS! The HP website even describes features for the X476dw such as QUOTE Produce quality prints with Original HP inks UNQUOTE
So quite where you get the idea that this Officejet 'PRO' should be any different from the C309a is a bit baffling to say the least. The C309a is NOT just a Photo printer - it was marketed and sold by HP as an MFP, not simply a Photo Printer - that's why it has a DRAFT mode too. Either HP are wrong, or you're wrong - and I think HP will know a bit more about their devices than you perhaps 😉
You are forgiven for thinking that my device is a laser printer - it isn't 😉

Dear HP Expert,
I am sorry but you are wrong.
Printing for example Labels is a perfect daily office task. The borders on the M476 are just HUGE.
Having a sheet of labels like 3x8 (24 labels) only the row in the middle can be printed (8 Labels) the rest is wasted.

Dear Nico2017
Methinks the HP Expert is no really an HP Expert 😉
But I can tell you that the X476DW MFP does print labels very well, especially if you use Avery software rather than the built-in HP labels profile. I use DesignPro 5 Lite Edition with 8 x 3 labels from Avery, and I can select any label on the sheet prior to printing so I don't waste labels.
Unfortunately this still doesn't resolve the issue, and it appears that HP in their wisdom intentionally forced borders on us - the paying customer!!!
