Hi. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (mostly cause printer was dramatic and refusing to print) put new magenta cartridge in and it isn’t printing, I know other cartridge wasn’t fully out when I changed it.  Just thought I needed what I wanted printed - printed.  Have cleaned printhead, and aligned and get the occasional magenta spec but still not really printing.  Is it time to get new one?

Hi @Raawn,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried several good troubleshooting steps, such as reinstalling the printer, replacing the magenta cartridge, cleaning the printhead, and aligning the printer.

Here are a few additional things you could try before considering a replacement:

  • Check Ink Cartridge Installation: Make sure the new magenta cartridge is installed correctly. If the previous cartridge wasn't fully out, it might have caused a misalignment. Remove the magenta cartridge again, inspect it for any protective tape or residue, and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks into place properly.
  • Deep Printhead Cleaning: If a basic cleaning didn't resolve the issue, you may want to try a deeper printhead cleaning. Some printers offer a deep or more thorough cleaning option through the printer settings (either from the printer's display panel or via the HP Smart app).
  • Printhead Cleaning Solution: If the printhead still isn't working correctly after multiple cleanings, you could try using a printhead cleaning solution, which can help dissolve dried ink that might be clogging the printhead.
  • Test the Cartridge: Sometimes a new cartridge can be faulty. You could try the old magenta cartridge again, or if you have a third-party or spare cartridge, test it to see if that changes the printing outcome.
  • Perform a Print Quality Diagnostic: Run a print quality diagnostic from the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app. This will help you identify if there are specific issues with the magenta ink or the printhead.
  • Printer Reset: As a last resort, you could try a factory reset of the printer to clear any software issues that might be affecting printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
