Hi

Printer shows 50.2 error which corresponds to bad heating element. Is that correct? Any ideas how to try fix it first, if no solution do I have to replace the whole heating element? If so, where can I find it inside the printer and how it looks like?

Many thanks

Fuser Unit, Duplex, part number RM2-6460-000CN.   Fuser unit is located in the top rear section of printer.  Side, top, and rear covers will have to be removed.  Google HP LJ M477 fuser replacement.  Videos are available online.

I see thanks.

If there is any way to try to fix heating element first rather than replacing the whole unit? I have seen some videos of 50.2 error who replaced only heating element and it worked, but it was for different model.

You can purchase a heating element on Ebay. This will assume that the rest of the fuser is in good condition. The life rating of the fuser is 50K pages and the average page count to failure we see is 38K pages. If the page count is anywhere in that range you are better off replacing the fuser or replacing all rollers. Check youtube for any videos as HP does not offer parts or document the process for rebuilding the fuser.
