After replacing an ink cartridge, the front panel went dark, and I can't even answer "OK" to the dim screen that says "Thanks for installing Instant ink HP cartridge..." I've turned printer off/on, and no change. It is still connected via wifi to my network so I can print, but I can't scan, change paper, etc. I've checked the HP Smart app on my computer and don't see anywhere I can turn the front panel back on. Am I missing something? I guess I can scan and change paper settings in HP Smart, but the front panel is more convenient since my printer is located in another part of my house away from my laptop.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that your printer display is dark, follow these steps to fix this issue.
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
- Turn on the printer.
Update the printer firmware
