As this community member says in his post, the printer makes sounds like its printing but the 5X7 glossy photo (face down) comes out blank or a tiny strip printed correctly, with black marks on the back. I have restarted the printer, the computer, and downloaded the latest drivers from HP and am using HP ink. Apparently, this member did not get his printer to print either.
This sounds exactly like the probem he's having:
Thanks for any additional suggestions.

@HartW, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To isolate the issue, I would like to know the following:
- Are you able to make a copy on the 5x7 glossy photo paper?
- Does it print fine on a regular paper?
Try updating the printer firmware which automatically fixes a lot of printer related issues.
Download and update the firmware from here.
Additionally, try adding the printer using AirPrint driver:
Remove the printer-
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners
Click the printer name, click the minus - sign to delete the printer.
Add the printer-
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners
Click the plus + sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add
Try printing.
Let me know the outcome.
Cheers 🙂
