HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The printer is connected to my  network, I am subscribed to Instant Ink (which at this point is going to charge me for so many pages because of this error).

I tried to print something, the printer always shuts off and I have a heck of a time getting it to turn on. (Im the first owner of it, brand new out of box about a year ago).  SO it finally starts to print, but not my document, its bits and pieces of code at the top fo the page (symbols and random letters in strange lines) and then the next page same thing.  Keeps going til its out of paper. There is nothing in the print queue.  I have reset it to factory standards, I have plugged and unplugged it, I have run the diagnostic, I have checked the firmware, I have done the print and scan doctor, and it says connected no problems, unless i have the drawer open to stop it from wasting paper, or if it has run out of paper, it wont give me an error that is valid.  What the heck do I have to do.  I just want it to work.  Im not tech savvy, I have done everything it suggests, and of course customer service is only available during business hours mtwrf when Im at work away from my printer.    Everything is up to date.  Help me please

@Orathean, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this — especially with something that should just work. Let's walk through a simplified fix that targets the exact symptoms you're describing:

Fully Remove the Existing Printer Driver

Let’s wipe out any corrupted settings or misconfigured drivers.

On your Windows 11 computer:

Unplug the printer or turn it off.

Hit the Windows Key + R, type: printui /s /t2

Press Enter. This opens the Print Server Properties window.

Look for HP ENVY 6055e in the list.

Select it and click Remove, then Remove driver and driver package.

Click OK and close the window.

Reinstall with HP’s Official Smart App

Go to: 123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

Download the installer for the HP Smart App.

During setup, connect the printer to Wi-Fi if needed (it will guide you).

It will install the correct drivers and associate your Instant Ink subscription properly.

Tip: Do not manually add the printer from Windows > Settings. Always use HP Smart for ENVY series setup.

Set the Correct Default Printer

Sometimes Windows will create a “WS” (Web Services) version of the printer. You don’t want that.

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Click your printer — if you see multiple entries (e.g., “HP ENVY 6055e WS”), remove the one with WS in the name.

Right-click the proper one (just “HP ENVY 6055e”), and select Set as default.

Prevent Printer from Powering Off Automatically

Open the HP Smart App

Go to Settings > Preferences > Energy Settings (or something similar)

Set Auto-Off/Power Saving to Never or extend the timer

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
