I have a HP Envy Inspire 7900 Series. I have bought some recommended HP Glossy photo paper 6x4. When I select any photograph to print I have issues when changing the size. When i leave it set at A4 paper size, the image appears sharp. As soon as i change the paper size to 6X4 it instantly blurs the image. I thought it may be just a bug on the settings, so i tried printing it and it came out just as blurred as the preview.
I have tried using low resolution images and they are having just the same issue. I have also tried making the size of the images smaller and still having no luck.
Any ideas of how to fix this? Thanks

Hi @Zina7,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP Envy Inspire 7900 Series printer when changing the photo size to 6x4 and noticing a blurring effect could be due to several factors. Here are some steps and checks to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check Printer Settings and Drivers:
- Ensure that your printer driver is up to date. Outdated or corrupted drivers can sometimes cause issues with printing quality.
- Visit the HP website, locate the support section for your printer model, and check for the latest printer drivers.
Image Resolution and Scaling:
- The resolution of the image can significantly affect the output when resized. Ensure that the images you are using are of high enough resolution to withstand resizing without losing clarity. For a 6x4 photo, a resolution of at least 1200x800 pixels is recommended.
- Check if there’s a setting in the printer's properties or in the photo printing software that adjusts the way images are scaled or resampled. Choose options like "High Quality" or similar.
Printer Software:
- If you are using the HP printer software, it might have settings specifically for photo printing that can adjust the quality. Explore these settings to see if changing them improves the output.
- Sometimes using a different software or app to handle the photo resizing and printing can yield better results.
Paper Type and Quality Setting:
- Ensure that the paper type selected in the printer settings matches the HP Glossy photo paper you're using. Incorrect paper settings can affect print quality.
- Adjust the print quality settings to a higher level if available.
Test with Different Images and Applications:
- Try printing the same image from a different application (like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Photos) to see if the issue persists across different software.
- If possible, print a high-quality image from another device or send the same image to another printer to determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the image file.
Hardware Issues:
- Although less likely, there could be a hardware issue affecting how the printer handles smaller paper sizes. Check if there are any visible signs of misalignment or other mechanical issues when loading smaller paper.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
