I received replacement ink cartridges under the HP EPrint program and when I installed the color cartridge for my 7640 I continually receive an error message stating to reinstall the color cartridge making sure it is properly installed.  I have done that repeatedly and have no doubt I have installed it and there is no other possible way to correctly install the cartridge.   I have read several posts about similar cartridge/printer error issues where the recommended fix is to clean off the copper contacts with a moist Q-Tip or similar cloth cleaning apparatus followed by powering off and/or unplugging the printer for at least 60 seconds.  I have done that numerous times and I will not spend any further time trying either of those recommended fixes.  The printer is still under the HP 1-yr mfr. warranty, I am and have been a subscriber to the E-Print refill program, and Iam requesting a replacement color cartridge and some compensation for the time I have spent trying to resolve the issue and downtime and printing costs I have incurred while the replacement ink cartridge has not been able to print.

I understand you are getting an error to remove and reinstall ink cartridge error on your printer.

 

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

 

Did you make any changes to your printer?

 

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

 

Are you using HP genuine ink cartridge on your printer?

 

This issue could occur if the electrical contacts on the printer or the cartridge are not working.

 

Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges.

 

Try few steps recommended below.

 

Restarting the printer can sometimes resolve an ink cartridge error.
Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

 

If the issue persists try replacing the ink cartridge on your printer.
