My printer prompted me for an update (the printer itself, not the computer) and since then, the printer keeps restarting and giving me a 79 service error code.

- I’ve turned off the printer, then turned it back on after 30 seconds.
- I’ve unplugged it from the surge protector and plugged it into the wall.

- I’ve tried resetting the printer. I’ve removed the printer from my computer including software and reinstalled

- I’ve tried plugging straight into the router and laptop

- I’ve tried a number of the above in different combinations

I looked to see if I could revert to the older driver but didn’t see how to do that.

I’m still getting the same error message.

Can someone help please?

im using a MacBook Pro that has macOS Catalina 10.15.7 installed

Hello @vhmp

Below are the steps that you need to follow in the order as mentioned ...

  1. Disconnect the printer from the NETWORK
    1. If on wired network : Unplug the  Ethernet cable from back of the printer.
    2. If on wireless network : Power of the Wireless router.
  2. Turn off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn on the printer.  If the printer is in READY state, go to Setup -> Network Setup -> Network Services -> IPv6 -> Off.
  4. Turn off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds and then turn on. Try printing , it should work.

Let me know if it worked for you.

Jabzi
