I have an OfficeJet Pro 8620 which is out of warranty. It is showing the error message " There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP. " Pressing ?, gives a second screen, saying "Solution 1: Reset the product". I have tried this multiple times. "Solution 2: Contact HP support. Write down the error code provided in the message, and then contact HP support". There is no error code and they require I go through the virtual assistant which gets me no where. I have replaced all the print cartridges with new genuine HP cartriges and removed and reseated the print carriage. On my computer screen when checking the ink levels- all are full but there is a red X on the top of the black while all the others have green checks. But, it does not explain what the issue is. Should I spend more money on this printer? It is only a few years old and worked great up until the black ink ran out and one of my children tried to switch it. Not sure what they did wrong- I think they put the old one back in again- but for some reason this error code persists even after replacing with all new ink. Thanks so much for any help you have.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Resolving 'Print System Problem', 'Problem with Ink System' Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
