recently my 8740 stopped working because of a "printhead missing, not detected and incorrectly installed".  I tried the "clean printhead option" on the digital screen.  Now my printed is stuck with this message.  I cannot access the menu at all.  I can only toggle between the printhead missing and the reinstall/contact support message.  

the error message is 0xc19a0023.  Please help!

I would like to add that in the interim I have removed the print head and cleaned it, according to the HP directions on Youtube.

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you are getting a printhead error, I am glad to assist you.

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  4. Wait 60 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE: 

    HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  6. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates
