When I put in an HP brand new black ink cartridge, I get this message:   Supply system Problem,  There is a problem with the supply system.   Try replacing the affected cartridge with a different, non-empty cartridge.  If message reappears again, record.     That’s all that comes up, I’ve tried two brand new cartridges.    In settings, when I try to get the printer to clearn the printer heads,  it won’t clean them.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8715 All in One printer.

Hi @Sue12342 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering a "Supply system problem" message after inserting a new black ink cartridge into your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8715. The correct cartridges for this model are generally HP 952, 952XL, or HP 953 depending on your region.

2. Inspect the Cartridges

  • Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges: Open the cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges. Ensure they are correctly inserted into their slots and try reinserting them.
  • Inspect for Protective Tapes: Make sure all protective strips, tapes, or covers have been fully removed from the cartridge nozzles and contacts.

3. Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Clean Ink Cartridge Contacts:
    1. Power off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Remove the cartridges.
    3. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges.
    4. Allow to dry, then reinsert the cartridges.

4. Printer Reset

  • Reset the Printer:
    1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    2. Wait 60 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.

5. Update Firmware

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Visit the HP Support website to check for any firmware updates for your printer model. Updated firmware may fix bugs related to cartridge recognition.

6. Try Different Cartridges

  • If possible, install another cartridge (if you have one available) to determine if the issue is cartridge-specific.

7. Scan and Print Diagnostic Report

  • Use the printer's control panel to try generating a "Print Quality Report" or "Print and Scan Doctor" tool if available for your model and operating system to diagnose specific errors.

Hope this helps resolve your issue.
