I own a HP Laserjet MFP M140w (NPIE9D67F). Bought it less than 6 months ago.
Error message: A problem has occurred with your HP account and you be unable to print very soon unless the issue is resolved. This could be related to your billing cycle.
I have followed the advice to sign into the home screen to check my status. It was not helpful there apart from their me the above error message.
I have already done the following. 1) Uninstalled and Installed the HP Smart App; (2) Uninstalled and Installed the Printer; (3) Hard Reset the Printer; (4) Use the HP Printer Doctor app to run diagnostics and do Test print, which failed to print.
I read online about this printer model needing to be subscribed to the HP instant ink to run. Which I think is quite ridiculous, as I prefer to buy a original HP Toner from the authorized shops.
Hope someone could offer some advice how to resolve this. Thanks in advance.

Hi @QWER9667,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing issues related to your HP account and possibly the HP Instant Ink service. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:
Check HP Instant Ink Status:
- Make sure you are signed in to your HP Instant Ink account on the HP Smart App or the HP website.
- Verify your subscription status and billing information to ensure there are no issues.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website or through the HP Smart App.
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet, as HP Instant Ink relies on a stable internet connection to communicate with the servers.
Verify Billing Information:
- Check your billing information associated with your HP account to ensure it is accurate and up to date. Billing issues could be causing the problem.
Disable Instant Ink:
- If you don't want to use HP Instant Ink, you might be able to disable it. Check your printer settings or the HP Smart App for options related to Instant Ink, and see if there's an option to disable it.
Check for Error Codes:
- Look for any error codes or messages on the printer's display screen. These can provide more specific information about the issue.
Manual Toner Purchase:
- If your printer model requires an Instant Ink subscription, you may need to explore options to disable this feature and continue using your printer with manually purchased toner cartridges. Contacting HP Support is crucial for this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
