"A problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved."

I have an older MAC OS Sequoia.  The printer is HP OfficeJet8020.

How can I resolve this please?  I can't figure it out!

Hi @Kathy278,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding error with your HP account!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

This error is typically related to HP Instant Ink or HP+ enrollment issues. Since your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e is an HP+ printer, it requires an active HP account to function. Here’s how to fix it:

1. Check HP Instant Ink Subscription

  • If you were using Instant Ink but canceled it, your printer will not accept Instant Ink cartridges anymore.
  • Solution: Replace them with regular HP cartridges (not Instant Ink ones).

2. Sign In & Reconnect Your HP Account

  1. Go to HP Smart and sign in to your account.
  2. Check if there are any account issues, like:
    • Expired payment method
    • Unfinished HP+ setup
    • Printer not linked to your account
  3. If needed, re-add your printer:
    • Click Add Printer → Follow the instructions.

3. Reset Printer to Reconnect to HP Servers

  1. Power off your printer and unplug it for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Restart your Wi-Fi router.
  3. Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:
    • Go to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
    • Then, reconnect to Wi-Fi via Wireless Setup Wizard.

4. Update Printer Firmware

If your firmware is outdated, it may cause account errors.

5. Factory Reset (If Issue Persists)

  1. On the printer screen, go to:
    • Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults
  2. Re-add the printer to your HP account and Wi-Fi.

Still Not Working?

  • Try printing from a different device (phone, Windows, another Mac).

Let me know if you need further help! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
