I have the same problem and have tried everything suggested in your support document and more. This printer is lightly used and it is shameful that it has broken like this. I don't think I'll ever buy another HP unless this is resolved.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Could you please help me with the model name or the product number and the operating system of the printer
Any hardware changes made in the printer?
Keep me posted.
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

It is the officejet 6830, this is my 3rd or fourth HP printer. Just so you understand, the ADF feeds the page and puts it in the return tray. When attempted scan is completed, I get the following message, "The document feeder was not able to pick up the original. Load the original in the document feeder and try again." This happens when scanning into my Adobe Acrobat program. If I use the acrobat from HP, the message is slightly different but is the same problem. I have cleaned most of the rollers but may have missed some. It still scans OK from the flatbed. I don't know what you mean by OS of the printer but no hardware changes have been made and the OS of my PC is Win 8.1. It was working one day and not the next. I have tried for several days with computer started fresh each day. I have done a full reset of the printer too. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply,
Let's double check if the copy works fine with the ADF.
Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6830-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5390307/docum...
Restart the printer.
If the copy is working fine It could be an issue with the printer driver.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
Cheers:)

No, it will not copy either. The page feeds through and the scanner keeps going as if there were another page to feed and then ends with the same error. Is this update going to cause me ink problems if I use another brand?
