Periodically, all of the printer panel lights and the screen itself will begin flashing. This has happened several times each day for the last several days. There is no error code or message displayed. When I press the power button, the printer seems to restart, whereupon the problem goes away... until the next time. I don't know what't causing this, or even if it's simply a glitchy printer, but I would like to get it addressed ASAP as it prevents/delays printing, and my wife and I only recently bought this printer. Please help!

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer screen and other lights on the printer keep flashing. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please download and install the firmware update for the printer from this link.
This should take care of the issue. However, if the issue persists then I suggest to reset the printer. Resetting the printer restores the printer to its original factory condition. I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.you
I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know the results. Cheers!

Unfortunately I do not think these steps are able to be followed. How can I press and hold the power button and have anything happen if the power cable is disconnected? Please revise and re-send your instructions. Thank you.

Hi @BruceL1,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you had difficulty in following the steps to reset the printer.
It looks like you were interacting with @MKazi, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
I suggest that you follow the step by step guide listed below to reset the printer:
1.Disconnect if there is any fax or USB cable connected to the unit and then turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
3.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
4.Wait at least 60 seconds.
5.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
6.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
7.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period.
8.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.
