HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HI. I have an issue with my printer. All the lights are flashing and it will not do anything else. I have tried everything including a full reset but every time I switch on the machine it just goes back to every light flashing. There is no paper jams, ink cartridges are all installed correctly. Can anyone help or advise what IIMG_1623.jpg can do.

Thanks

@JamesLC, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Based on the image you provided and the issue described with the HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer (all lights flashing and unresponsive), this typically indicates a critical error or printer failure. Let's walk through the steps to identify and possibly resolve the issue.

Power Reset (Hard Reset)

You've already tried this, but just to confirm:

  • Turn OFF the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back directly into the wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn ON the printer.

If the issue persists, move to the next step.

Interpret Flashing Lights (from Image)

From your image:

The Attention Light, Information Light, Ink Alert Lights (both color and black), and Paper Icon are all flashing.

This pattern usually points to:

"Printer is in an error state due to ink system failure, corrupted firmware, or unsupported/expired cartridges."

Check Ink Cartridges

Remove both cartridges (black and tri-color).

Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge carriage with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.

Reinsert cartridges one at a time and close the access door. Watch the printer’s response:

If error appears after inserting a specific cartridge, that cartridge may be faulty.

Use only original HP 67/67XL ink cartridges. If enrolled in Instant Ink, ensure those cartridges are used.

Check for Firmware Update via HP Smart App

If the printer is somewhat responsive and shows up in HP Smart:

  • Open HP Smart app on your PC or mobile. HP Smart
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (or EWS).
  • Look for Firmware Update option under Tools or Web Services.
  • If available, update the firmware.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
