Yesterday it was printing fine.  This morning it isn't so... I changed all the print cartridges, did all the diagnostics and printer tests BUT it is still printing very faint.  The crazy thing is that the test pages seem to print perfectly fine.  (No, I haven't change the kind of paper I'm using nor changed any other settings).  PS.  Printer is 15 months old.. this is insane.

I have the same problem, but on HP 8720. Test pages are crisp and clean, good contrast, AND the copies of the test pages are crisp and clean. Anything printed from Word, Excel, Adobe pdf., or Chrome browser, is faded, not dark enough.

I found the HP Print settings, and moved the slider to the highest setting. The effect was to make the test pages and copies darker, nut NO EFFECT on printing documents.

(Sorry, screen shots are in reverse order)

I was on the phone to Apple support (a live person) for about 20 minutes. Apple support tutorial shows a "Show Details" tab on the Print page. My screen does not have that tab. The Apple person said this is because the printer company (HP) chose not to put in a link at that point.

Please help.   Jack

PS : I also found the HP "Fixing Poor Print Quality" tutorial. I followed it, found the "print qualtiy"  slider in the Word software, max'd it out. Still faded. Still the test sheet copies come out darker, more distinct. Please help.   Jack

I would try to uninstall the driver for that printer and reinstall the driver,It might be that a windows update changed some settings.Hope this will help.

No, that wasn't it.  I see there is a bunch of ink inside the printer.  WHAT A PIECE OF GARBAGE.  This HP printer lasted 15 months.  Back to Brother, where I should have stayed.
