Hi,
If you hae set up a password from within the EWS, you will need to authenticate to change any setting.
You should type admin as the username with the selected password you have set.

I am having this same issue. What is strange is I can access a lot of settings but, the Networking tab keeps coming up to this "Authentication Required" which is a pop up after clicking on Networking. I have tried using a lot of options:
Username: admin
Password: mickey (our local account)
Username: config
Password: mickey
Username: config
Password: blank
Username: egildersleeve
Password: blank
I am at a loss. I have even reset the machine to factory default, but that failed. The only password we ever had on this thing was "mickey". Before anyone gets upset about me sharing our password, it is on an air gapped network. Not connected to the real world.
Thanks!

The answer is redundant: enter the password?
I never set a password, yet the prompt keeps displaying. Is it coming from HP utility? or from the printer itself?
Perhaps there is a default password? I tried blank, 12345678, admin ; all with user=admin or user=blank

@bjccot- is your printer model the same? (Deskjet Ink Advantage 3635)
What operating system do you use?
Consumer HP Printers never come with a preconfigured administrator password, so be sure to clarify the details above.
