Please help. Ive read on all possible solutions on this post regarding auto answer not working, have to press accept in order to receive fax. I have attempted every thing, checking the fax line, changing to all distinctive rings, shut down and unplug all then reboot fax machine still the same issue, must hit accept to receive fax. Went thru the manual under trouble shooting and tried all the suggestions. Called the phone service provider too and still not working. I have wasted many hours and cannot waste anymore. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:
Go to:
Advanced fax set up
Distinctive rings
(change to) Single ring. (If it is already set to Single, then change it to All rings)

Setting the "distinctive ring" appropriately is one important step. Once that is done, the number of rings-to-answer must also be set appropriately. HP provides information at https://support.hp.com/lt-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m477-series/7326560/document/c0329590... in "Set the number of rings-to-answer".
The confusion caused by not having appropriate doc or setup wizard or default configs makes an un-necessarily frustrating experience of what could be an OK product.
