Somewhat resuming this thread:  Bonjour Service Name changes unexpectedly after being set, I continually run into an issue whereby, when it seems to be, the power goes out at my client's home (printer not plugged into a UPS), my client can no longer print to their printer from their Mac.  Not being able to print when the printer comes back online is clearly caused by the Mac's loss of connection to the printer that is caused by a Bonjour name change in the printer (at least in HP's case, the Bonjour name has a number appended to it that is incremented every time there is a power outage (see Bonjour name under printer's settings when this occurs, to confirm)):  if the Bonjour name of a printer changes, OSX (Mac) disassociates a Bonjour printer previously existed on the Mac and you can longer print to it because it considers it a different printer.  The temporary solution is to delete the printer on the Mac and re-add it (provided there are no other issues with the printer).  This temporary solution however is very inconvenient.

According to an Apple developer white paper, this is expected/required behavior to be coded into printers by printer manufacturers/developers (automatically change Bonjour name of a printer under certain circumstances):  Bonjour white paper.  The certain circumstance is "When a printer name conflict occurs".  Okay, so when the power fails, the printer powers off, the power comes back on and the printer powers back up, what causes a "printer name conflict" or why does HP detect/feel there is a "printer name conflict" that subsequently disassociates the printer set up on the Mac from the physical one on the network that leads to no longer being able to print??  How do I correct/fix this vicious cycle??  How do I make sure there is no "printer name conflict" so the HP printer maintains the same Bonjour name in it's settings so there is a stable printing environment??

Hi @gogav,

I'd like to help!

Try below suggestions-

Set a manual IP

  1. Print a conƭguration page and take down the IP a. From the Home screen on the product control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. b. Open the Reports menu. c. Select &onƭguration Report.
  2. Open a Web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the HP LaserJet.
  3. Type the current IP address of the LaserJet listed on the configuration page into the address bar on your Web browser and press "Enter" to open the HP printer's embedded Web server.
  4. Select the "Networking" tab from the HP configuration screen
  5. Click "Network Settings" on the left side of the screen.
  6. Select the "TCP/IP" tab.
  7. Click the drop-down menu under "IP Configuration Method" and select "Manual."
  8. Enter a new IP address in the box that appears
  9. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the screen

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
