HP Envy Photo 7134
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am printing lables using the Avery template L7166. The labels print at about 90%. I have read some answers but do not seem to be getting anywhere. Made more frustrating by a) the fact that my (non-photo) Epson does it perfectly and b) that my monthly allowance of 50 sheets is being whittled away for no result.

Got nowhere with the troubleshooting robot.

Any solutions I've not tried? Reluctant to waste too many more prints on failures

Not sure what you are using to create / print the labels.

The following might be helpful, or at least give you another idea or two.

Avery template L7166:

Avery_Template_L7166_1Avery_Template_L7166_1

Office Word

Download the template - open in Word

If necessary:

Enable editing

File > Convert (to change the format to .docx)

Layout > Margins > Narrow

Set the font and other textual setups

Edit / Add content to each label

File > Save the document to your computer under a name of your choosing

Without closing the document,

File > Save-As > Save the document as a PDF file

PDF

Open the PDF document in  Adobe Reader DC

Click the print icon

Under Properties

Paper Size = A4

Paper Source = Tray 1 (as opposed to leaving "automatic")

Paper Type = Brochure, Cardstock, or "some" form of thicker paper

Print on both sizes = OFF / None

Check each tab and all settings

Click back to tab Printing Shortcuts

Optional:  Click Save As > Create a custom shortcut to use again later

Click OK to exit Properties / Shortcut settings

On the main PDF print menu

Under Page Sizing and Handling

Click box Size

Select Actual Size

Select Orientation = Portrait

Print the file

NOTES

  • Use plain paper to test
  • If you don't like the results, if the fonts are weird, things look skewed..

Click the Print icon

Adjust the settings in Properties and in the main PDF print menu

Click Advanced > Select to print the document as an image

  • If you are using the Avery Design and Print software for PC / Mac, the program can Save and then open the file as a PDF document - the option to do so is selectable after you click Print.  Once the document is opened as a PDF file, the printing instructions are the same.

Example

Avery_Template_L7166_2Avery_Template_L7166_2

NOTE:  Foxit Reader is very similar to the Adobe product and should work for this situation.

Thanks very much - as much for showing me round my new printer as anything else. I was thrown by the fact that my old Epson did it without problem - but not in the quality I wanted.

You are welcome.

I infer from your comments that you have been able to print the labels as expected.  Is that correct?
