HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer

Went to use my printer for the first time in a few months and when printing, below status of estimated supply levels, no Black Ink seems to be printing. If you use "Color Only" the print quality is so faint you can barely see it and if you set to "Black & White" you get nothing on the page. This is consistent even after using the Cleaning Tool multiple times, Print Test Pages are only in color, while the status you would assume there is quite a bit of ink left, and the Black is well pretty much brand new. Completed the said resolve of deleting drivers and reinstalling software and did the Cleaning Tool again and get the attached picture print. Makes no sense as this is a brand new cartridge, do they dry up with limited use? Seems unfair for the price of a unit.

Dried ink from printer not being used. Ink dries within 10 days depending on the environment if you don't print. Not printing for a month is a way too long period.

Check if the vents of the cartridges are clogged. You can fix this by gently using a pin to clean up the clog on the vent. 5. Try using a different ink cartridge to determine if your printer is able to recognize cartridges.\]

Thank you for the reply but well that's not the best reply I was looking forward to, haha! 10 days! I mean that's wild they will dry up that quickly and they are not cheap by ANY means! Is there anyway to keep more life to them?

Thanks William - can you add any further detail to where the "vents" are? If that is the bottom of the cartridge I did run a q-tip over them. As far as recognizing the cartridges, the PC app and the Printer provide an "estimated ink level" which would presume they are recognized - outside of that, would there be another place that would provide whether or not they were recognized?
