HP Envy 5055
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Okay so I recently bought a new HP Envy 5055 off Amazon (brand new) after running into problems with my last brand new HP DeskJet 2755 having numerous error problems I returned it.

So I  make images into jewerly for a side business, and lately I found it easier to use Glossy Photo Paper, easier to cut and looks better compared to regular paper.  With that said, this new HP Envy 5055 the very first print I did this past weekend the black ink didn't dry.  I waited a bit to see if it would but it just smears right off.  So I tried again, and sure enough the same issue occurs.

I've been in touch with HP support, talked to someone who had the same printer said that it shouldn't occur, even went to my local Office Depot and they also said it shouldn't occur.  Told me I should use HP brand photo paper, or try out this other type of Glossy Paper.  The first Glossy paper I used was Double Sided Glossy Inkjet Photo Paper by Uinkit off Amazon.  It worked fine off my older Canon Injket printer till that printer itself was acting up.

Is there a solution to this, I use an HP Laptop with Windows 10, installing the HP Envy was simple and it prints fine on regular paper just the inkjet itself for whatever reason the black ink just stays on it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, if I need to change any settings within the printer for it to dry faster, or I suppose use a certain type or why this is occuring on a brand new printer.107803145_309328393527369_683594490277615137_n.jpg

Hi @arise83

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

1) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?

2) what is the size of the photo paper ?

3)Have you tried using HP Photo paper ?

4) have you checked if there is any ink leakage in the printer?

Meanwhile , try printing in the draft mode

Check the print settings for your print job in Windows.

  1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Open the Properties dialog box.

Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.

  3. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:

    • Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.

    • Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.

    • Paper Size: If you are printing on a different size of paper than you normally print on, select the correct paper size.

    • Black and White: If you want to print in black and white only, select the grayscale option.

  4. After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
