Hello Community -

my black ink won't print. Brand new ink cartridge - went through the virtual agent troubleshooting and still no luck. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Also color is printing fine - unable to complete the alignment process because the alignment page is missing the black color. I am just guessing at that.

@1KnowsNothing, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Yes, you are correct. For alignment to be successful, both the ink cartridges should be able to print.

Was the old black ink cartridge working fine?

Make sure the plastic tape if any is removed from the new black ink cartridge before placing it in the printer.

Check the estimated ink levels to make sure the printer is reading the black ink cartridge.

Perform steps 10 and 8 respectively from this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

If the issue persists, the issue could be with the black ink cartridge or the printer itself. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
