The low ink light was blinking and I removed the old cartridge and replaced it with a new one. When I installed the new cartridge, the low ink light continues to blink and I cannot print. I have tried removing and reinserting it numerous times but I cannot get the light to go out or the printer to print. I know the new cartridge has ink in it since when I was handling it I got ink on my finger.
What do I need to do to get it to work?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP Deskjet 6940 Printer. I read that the low ink light blinked after which you installed new ink cartridges. But the low ink light continues to blink. Not to worry, I'll do my best to assist you with this case.
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
If the low ink light continues to blink then please perform the following steps from this HP article:
- Solution one: Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridges.
- Solution two: Clean the cartridge contacts.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. All the best! 🙂
