Like a lot of people, my black cartridge is not working. I have tried 2 x brand new cartridges and followed all the HP  trouble shooting recommendations but my printer still shows the cartridge as empty with a bolt and exclamation mark.

It was working fine up until I changed the cartridge.  All the other cartridges are fine and print.

Is there anything else I can do?  My software is up to date...wondering if there is a way to re-boot or re-install the software as I can't think what else it can be.  It was in perfect working order.

I hope someone can help me solve this problem.

many thanks

@Techstress, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

If you have already performed steps from the document HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One Printer Series - 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge'  and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
