Photosmart 7520 e-all in one

Printer suddenly stopped printing black.  One document printed fine,  a few minutes later the next document would not print black.   Color is OK.  Replaced black ink cartridges (both of them), cleaned connections, rebooted the printer.  Anything else to try?

Hi! @tvsjr, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Have you tried printing from a different application?

Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges to print?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Replace any low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on the printer.

Update the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Also, If the copy works fine uninstall the printer software from the root level on the PC and install the full feature printer software. (Windows Only)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

Printer HP Deskjet 3520

Done status report, print quality report, cleaned printhead, aligned printer. Colours working, no black on test. New black cartridge. No documents printing.

I have the same problem but with a twist, my 6525 stopped using black ink last week and while going through the endless print head cleanings I accidentally selected a 4x6 postcard I made up that had black type and black clip art on it. It printed perfectly on 4x6 photo paper.  So much for a bad printhead,,,It printed one doc and stopped on the next one, NO poor print just died between pages.

I have done the following;

Replace the black HP Cartridge

cleaned the print head, several times

uninstalled the printer and reinstalled

reinstalled the software (updated)

Checked the firmware

checked the grayscale printing (off)

H! @JSC60, @Daviedave,

As the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

It certainly sounds like a hardware issue with the printer.
