Hi there, I just bought a HP Smart Tank Wireless 450 printer. I have run print qulaity diagnostics which are OK except for black. I have run the maintenance alignments etc., yet the black printing remains blurred and streaked. Any thoughts?

Hi! @printanxt, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you have issues printing in black colour from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?
Have you installed full feature printer software?
Have you tried printing from a different application?
Have you tried printing using a different ink cartridge?
Please share the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better.
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Check the ink level on your printer and replace the low or empty ink cartridge.
Check the print settings for your print job in Windows.
-
In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.
The Print window opens.
-
Open the Properties dialog box.
Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
-
Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:
-
Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.
-
Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.
-
Paper Size: If you are printing on a different size of paper than you normally print on, select the correct paper size.
-
Black and White: If you want to print in black and white only, select the grayscale option.
-
-
After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.
If the copy works fine and if the issue persists while printing in all the applications. Uninstall the printer software from root level and install the latest full feature software for your printer.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

I don't know if replying to a robot is worthwhile, but I will run through these suggestions and report back. At the risk of sounding tedious, I have already stated that this is a new printer. I have yet to complete a print job.

I am reporting back. I followed your email to the letter. The black ink is still streaked I have done Head cleaning and alignment. Here is my list from your suggestions. All complete.
List
I have not changed anything to do with the original set up instructions.
Yes, the issue persists when copying.
Yes, I installed full feature software.
Yes, I have tried printing from another application.
No, I have not tried printing with another cartridge, that would contradict No1.
I am using Windows 10. 64bit.
As I have said, this is a new printer. The ink is full.
Print properties: I am using plain paper.
Issue persists in Best and grey scale printing mode.
Deleted printer and drivers
Downloaded software from your link.
The problem of the black ink being streaked still persists.
If I were speaking to a person, I would ask their honest opinion on whether it seems likely the black ink print head was contaminated before installation.

@printanxt, Thanks for your prompt response and time again.
I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.
To answer your query: No I'm not a bot, I'm just a human being like you. My handle name sounds a bit tedious but it is from a TV series called Mr.Robot.
As you mentioned the issue persists while making a copy of your printer.
It sounds like a printhead issue with your printer. I would send you a private message with the service options for your printer.
Please watch your inbox for more information.
Have a pleasant day ahead!
Take Care! 🙂
