All the colours print correctly. Recently the black has a strong tint of green. I am running win7 without hp software.
My other pc, running winxp with the original software, also has this problem and yet on this pc it always worked perfecly in the past.
Any ideas please?

Hello, @-g_s70
Going through your reply, it looks like an issue with the printer print settings on your PC causing the issue. Since the photocopy is working fine the printer hardware seems to be good. You can further test this by making photocopies of photographs.
While feeding the photo paper to the photo, you need to keep “Glossy” or print side facing down. Also, it is important to change the print settings before you print a photo. Check the settings mentioned below:
- Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers
- Right-click on your Photosmart and choose the "Printing Preferences" option.
- Now, go to paper quality / layout tab and make sure the paper type is selected as "Photo paper".
- Also, select the correct paper size and save the settings.
Now, follow the steps mentioned to print the photo:
- Open the picture using “Windows Photo Viewer” (You can right-click on the image and go to “Open with” to select the windows photo viewer app)
- Change the paper size appropriately.
- Also, change the paper type to “photo paper” before printing.

Hello, @-g_s70 - Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I understand you are having issues while printing in color from your Photosmart printer. To assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not. Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the color copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copy also fails to print in color, then the issue could be with the printer hardware or cartridges. Check a similar forum thread: http://hp.care/2sqj4hU
If the copy works fine, then the issue could be with the printer drivers or the print settings on the printer. Try to reinstall the drivers to fix the issue.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Thank-you for contacting me.
Performing a "Photocopy" as you suggested resulted in a perfect copy.
I downloaded new drivers and software from the HP site which seem to be functioning correctly.
A "Self Test Diagnostic Page" showed alternating white lines in the Light Cyan and Light Magenta.
Performing a "Clean Head Routine" made no difference nor did "Aligning" or "Resetting Default".
So, a problem here.
As for the original problem the blacks and shadows are a dull green.
I would be very pleased to receive any other suggestions.
Thank-you in advance.
