HP Deskjet 6940 series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recnetly purchased a supposed to be "Refurbished" HP Deskjet 6940 to replace my old worn and broken 6940.   After doing the first couple diagnostic tests...the Green power button and Red down arrow resume button began to blink off and on.  I did a power reset, which seemed to clear up the issue for a hundred pages then it started all over again.   But, this time the ink cartridge carriage slid all the way over to the right side and locked itself in place unmovable (with or without power being on).   Besides, return shipping this obviously not very well done "Refurbished" printer...has anyone else ever had this type of problem?  If so, what did you do to resolve the issue?

Thank You. for the solution, actually found the same page after a couple hours searching through the Troubleshooting pages...guess I should have read your response first   :generic:       I resolved the issue by simply return shipping the unit back to the  "Refurbisher"...being that it arrived DOA.     Besides having the carriage lock-up the unit also was making some really bad grating noises, that I've never heard a Deskjet 6940 make before.  So it seemd best to simply get rid of a obviously dead horse before it really began to stink!   Anyway, I'll be posting more 6490 tales as I begin working with my newly found USED Deskjet 6940, it came with a remarkably low page count of only 247 pages...that was 500 pages ago.   The only test it don't seem to want too preform is the basic self test (Holding the Red X "Resume" button in).  The unit does nothing but glare at me with its one green eye blazing, as I patiently press the Red X button waitng for it to print out a self test...of which it won't.  Thank you again for the solution...would be nice if Service was still available for these older models, but it is what it is and they really do work great until they no longer work.

I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.

I'm glad that you shipped the unit back to the vendor as it was a DOA product.
