HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I have an unknown admin password and I don't know how to reset it. Every setting inside the panel on the printer and on the webinterface are blocked by this credentials. Please show me a way how I can reset the admin user, thanks.

Hi @bMU27g,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are unable to access your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer due to an unknown admin password, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings to remove the password. Here's how you can do it.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the wireless and cancel buttons together for 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
  3. The printer will reset to its default factory settings.

Note that resetting the printer to its default settings will erase all the printer's settings, including network settings and customized settings. So, you may need to set up the printer again and configure its settings as per your requirements.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4, thanks for your answer. Your solution didn't help but I tried a little around. I did following

1. The printer was on

2. Press and hold the wireless and cancel buttons together for 5 seconds, a menu opens that let you choose different Reset methods.
3. Use "Semi-/Full Reset"
4. The printer shuts down

5. I started the printer and configured it

The reset worked kinda, but I still need the admin password I don't kown

Now I can use my printer as before. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I mistakenly added the line "Now I can use my printer as before". I can use my printer but I still have no admin rights on it. So, as an example, I am not able configure webscans
