I have a hp4656 office jet printer that is not working and has a blue screen. I have already unplugged it for over a hour and plugged back in and it didnt do anything. I need to know if the printer is done or if this is a fixable situation. If fixable what do I need to do?

Hi @Sbrown7,

I understand your HP OfficeJet 4656 is stuck on a blue screen and is not working, even after unplugging it for over an hour. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Perform a proper power reset
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait 60 seconds, then plug it directly back into the wall and turn the printer on.

Check the touchscreen response
Gently tap different areas of the screen to see if it reacts at all.
A completely unresponsive screen often indicates a firmware or display failure.

Disconnect all external connections
Remove USB cables, Ethernet cables, and memory cards if present.
Power the printer on with only the power cable connected to rule out external interference.

Attempt a firmware recovery (if screen allows)
If the printer partially boots, check for any on-screen menu or error message.
Some blue screens indicate corrupted firmware that may recover after multiple restarts.

Inspect for overheating or electrical damage
Ensure the printer is not unusually warm and that there was no recent power surge.
Sudden power issues can corrupt the printer’s internal firmware.

Check printer behavior during startup
Watch for movement, sounds, or changes in the display during power-on.
No movement or progress usually points to a main logic board failure.

I hope this helps.
