Hi, I have an issue with borderless printing for printing double sided with short edge (thats the only option my macbook pro has) no long edge. The colour and images came out fine from pdf but only one side is still left with a small white border. How do I fix this? Please advise. Im using a hp 6020 envy series.

Also I noticed all my music sheets have the right corner slightly cut off whenever I print. Its pretty frustrating (Im a music teacher that requires frequent printing for my students)

@Kylynn, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how important it is for your music sheets and documents to print correctly especially when you're printing frequently for your students. Let's work through your concerns step by step.

Issue 1: Borderless Printing on Double-Sided (Short Edge) – One Side Has a White Border

The HP ENVY 6020 supports borderless printing, but only for single-sided prints. Unfortunately, borderless duplex (double-sided) printing is not supported on this model. This is why you're seeing a white border on one side.

Workaround Options:

  • Print single-sided borderless pages and manually flip them if needed.
  • Use a larger paper size and trim the edges after printing double-sided.
  • Consider using a printer model that supports borderless duplex printing if this is a frequent need.

Issue 2: Right Corner of Music Sheets Cut Off

This is likely due to margin settings or paper size mismatch between your document and printer settings.

Steps to Fix:

Check Paper Size in Print Settings:

  • Open your music sheet PDF.
  • Go to File > Print.
  • Click Show Details (if available).
  • Ensure the Paper Size matches the actual paper (e.g., A4 or Letter).

Set to “Scale to Fit” or 100%:

  • Under Scale, choose Fit to Printable Area or manually set to 100%.
  • Avoid “Scale to Fill” as it may crop edges.

Check Margins in the Original Document:

  • If you're printing from a PDF, ensure the original file has enough margin space.
  • If you're using a music notation software, adjust the page layout to avoid content near the edges.

Printer Alignment:

  • Run a printer alignment from the HP Smart app or printer control panel to ensure accurate print placement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

"Borderless printing was changed from on because of a conflict with another printer setting"

I use Smart Tank 580. I have been experiencing issue with borderless printing on a plain paper. Finally found a solution for it.

Here are the steps that I used to resolve this:

1. Save your desired document/photo in PDF format.

2. Right click on the document, click "open with" and choose Google Chrome.

3. Ctrl+P or the printer icon on top right.

4. Click on "more settings" and scroll all the way down.

5. Click "Print using system dialog"

6. Next on the "Print using system dialog" tab, click "more settings" on the bottom part.

7. Choose "Photo Printing-Borderless" , make sure to choose the right paper size which you can find on the right side once you click "Photo Printing-Borderless". DO NOT change anything except the "Paper Size" tab.

8. Click "OK" once done, then "Print"

9. Enjoy a photo paper quality print on plain paper :))
