@ITGM,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you need assistance regarding the bottom border that is not printing. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you correctly I would require more information regarding this:

What is the operating system associated with the printer?

  • Is it Windows Or Mac? What is the version of the OS associated with the printer?
  • Did you check the printer’s product specifications to see if the compatible paper is being used to print the border?
  • What application are you printing from? Is it Word, Excel, PowerPoint Adobe?
  • Did you try printing from different apps to check if the bottom border prints correctly?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer first by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2HdNL1a  and refer to the section “Step 1: Reset the printer” and perform these steps.
  • After this please check if compatible and supported paper is being used by the printer by checking the product specifications link: https://hp.care/2HhRvif (Printer Specifications for HP Deskjet 1050, 2050, 2060 Printers)
  • Please check everything under Paper-handling specifications including
  • Paper tray capacities
  • Paper types (plain, inkjet, photo, glossy)
  • Envelopes
  • Cards
  • Printing specifications

If the paper type or size that is not supported by the printer is being used, please change it to the size and type of paper that is compatible with the printer and it should resolve the issue. This is very important to check.

If the supported paper is being used, then try printing the bottom border from multiple apps like Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Reader etc to isolate the problematic app.

Make 2 copies with bottom borders directly from the printer without any communication from the computer to isolate the issue to a hardware issue with the printer.

If it copies correctly and the operating system is Windows, then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these steps:

  • n Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2xQaH0a  and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix it for you.

Please check this link: http://hp.care/2sJOvCt on how to change the print driver settings. Check all the options to change the different printer settings.  This should do the trick for you.

If other apps print the bottom border correctly, then uninstall and reinstall the problematic app. If it is Word, uninstall and reinstall MS Office and the issue should get resolved.

  • If it persists, then perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://hp.care/2HdNMSM (HP Deskjet 1050, 1050A, 2050, and 2050A All-in-One Printer Series - 'Alignment Failed' Error Message Displays on the Computer)
  • Now check for issue resolution. If required replace the problematic ink cartridge and check again.
  • Also perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://hp.care/2HhRydV (HP Printers - 'Paper Mismatch' Error (Windows) if the OS is Windows.

If the OS is Mac please perform all the relevant steps from this link: https://hp.care/2HdNPxW (HP Printers - Paper Mismatch Error (Mac)

If the printer has no hardware issues these steps should resolve the issue. If the problem continues, then the printer might be faulty and may need to be replaced. Please do it by contacting HP phone support via this link: https://hp.care/2moMFSc

Then follow the on-screen instructions to get it replaced.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.

Thanks for the response, none of the solutions worked

I still can't move the bottom margin more down, unlike the top one which I can stick it up with the top of the page

Hi @ITGM, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @DavidSMP, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

I have checked the specifications of your printer and the only size supported to print borderless from your printer is

182 x 257 mm (7.17 x 10.12 in)

If you are printing a different size from the above-listed size you will not be able to print borderless from your printer.

Also, you can try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

Open devices and printers
Right, click on  Deskjet 1050A.
Select Printer Preferences.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click Print Borderless from the Borderless Printing option.
Click the Paper/Quality tab. Select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list.
Click OK, and then click Print or OK to begin printing.

Also, try printing the image from the photo imaging software that came with
the printer.
Cause: Printing a borderless image from a non-HP software application produced
unexpected results.

Refer the product specifications page of your printer to know more information.  Link: https://hp.care/2F5u85F

If the solution provided worked for you, please mark accepted solution for this post.

Hope this answers your query!
