Just purchased new 902 Black XL ink cartridges. Printer recognizes and seems to be fine. Black does not print at all. Have undergone many "levels" of cleaning, no black printing.

Nearest post to this one, the answer was: you need a new printer. That cannot be the answer to my question here.

One more question: why does this happen every single time I get new cartridges? This is not rocket science, and yet....

@Hosman1, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for responding, but this was not helpful at all. I went through every step on the page you sent the link to. I have already gone through most of those steps multiple times.

Here is the issue: The printer was working just fine on Tuesday morning, but ran out of black ink. I went to Costco, and on Tuesday evening, bought two genuine 902XL cartridges in a package, and installed the first one. Printer recognized it just fine as a genuine, certified HP cartridge, and full. But it won't print. No matter how much cleaning I do, or tests I run, no black ink. So, just to make sure it wasn't a defective ink cartridge, I tried the other one. Same thing. Doesn't print the black ink.

I don't know what you'll write here to try to persuade me that a printer that was working just fine in the morning, but won't print with either of two recognized, genuine HP cartridges in the evening, just somehow had a hardware failure and now I'm out not just the price of the printer itself, but $75 more in ink that I can't use. And hours lost from my, and my partner's lives, working on this for naught, that we'll never get back.

And as I look back, I had a similar issue the last time I tried to replace ink--you can see I've only made two postings on this site, and the last one was over replacing ink, as well. The color cartridges.

You have lost a life-long HP user here.

I'm out.

Never again.
