I bought Avery 28371 business cards. I have an HP Deskjet 2640. The business cards do not seem to line up with the printer. I have to remove the top of the business cards perforated line to get the top one to print correctly. But then the bottom one cuts off. "Letter" option does not work. A4, A6 and Government letter don't work either. I tried adjusting "fit to printable area", "fit to paper" and custom percentage (75%). Nothing works!

What are the correct settings to get Avery 28371 to print properly on an HP Deskjet 2640 printer?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you facing an issue printing only Avery paper or all other types of paper?
  • Did it work earlier or is this the first time you're trying to print Avery Business Card?
  • Have you checked the printer specification if your printer supports this paper?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

This is the first time I have ever tried printing business cards with this printer. I've not tried any other brand besides Avery. The HP 2640 I have does not have a manual so I am unsure about paper compatibility.

PS--the computer that I have, that is connected to the printer, is a Samsung Chromebook.

The user guide for the Deskjet Ink Advantage 2640 is available for download from HP here.  The specification (available here under Paper handling capabilities, Paper tray capabilities) does not mention business cards, but for index cards (which would be similar) it suggests a maximum thickness of 200 gsm.  The spec for the cards you are using is 216 gsm, slightly thicker than the printer's ratings.

You may be able to have better success by loading single sheets of the business cards and giving a gently nudge when the printer tries to pick the paper.
