Hi @Aussieferal,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP ENVY Photo 6220 printer. We understand that you're encountering an error stating that the cartridges are linked to another HP Instant Ink account. This situation often arises when a printer enrolled in the HP Instant Ink program is transferred to a new owner without properly deactivating the previous account.
Steps to Resolve the Issue
- Contact the Previous Owner:
- Reach out to the seller and request that they:
- Log in to their HP Instant Ink account.
- Navigate to their account settings and cancel the Instant Ink subscription.
- Remove the printer from their account.
- Reach out to the seller and request that they:
This action will disassociate the cartridges and the printer from their account, allowing you to set up the printer under your account.
- Replace the Cartridges:

- Ensure that the cartridges are compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 6220 printer.
- Reset the Printer:
- After installing the new cartridges, perform a factory reset on the printer to clear any residual settings:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
- After installing the new cartridges, perform a factory reset on the printer to clear any residual settings:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
