Hi @Lorick1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing alignment issues with your HP C4280 printer after installing a new color cartridge, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the problem.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the color cartridge is installed correctly. Make sure it's securely placed in the correct slot. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it to ensure it's properly seated.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: The metal contacts on the cartridge and the printer can sometimes accumulate dust or residue. Turn off the printer, remove the color cartridge, and gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
- Use Genuine HP Cartridges: It's recommended to use genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues. Non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges may not work properly and can cause alignment problems.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
- Print a Diagnostic Page: Print a diagnostic or test page from the printer control panel. This can help you identify if there are any issues with the color cartridge. Follow the printer's user manual for instructions on how to print a diagnostic page.
- Manual Alignment: If the automatic alignment is failing, you may try manually aligning the cartridges. Many HP printers allow you to perform manual alignment through the control panel. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to manually align the cartridges.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
