C4480 Photosmart All in One
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

C4480 Photosmart All in One - Incompatible Print Cartridge(s). Installed brand new 74 & 75 cartridges. Narrowed it down to the 74-black cartridge. Tried everything without success. I know that this is an older printer, but worked fine until new cartridges were installed.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

If you insert your old ink, do you get the error message? If yes, follow the steps here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-photosmart-c4400-all-in-one-printer-series/3655558/model/365...

 

If no, then this would a cartridge issue. You could either return it to the store/website you purchased it from or contact the HP Support Team regarding this.

I can re-install the old black ink cartridge and it says "low ink". I am not sure if I will be able to return the ink cartridge as it was part of a double set with the color cartridge included (which works fine). This has never happened in all of the years I have had this printer

I was able to return the stated cartridges to the store where purchased and they exchanged. 

I was then able to install the new cartridges without any further issues. The new cartridges work fine.
