The following lights flash about every second: (small light by + sign, Print Photos, Red Eye Removal, On-Off and blue Wireless light. Screen is white. If I hold down Print Photos and On-Off buttons, screen changes to green with numbers 1 thru 5 in white. Lights quit blinking (On-Off light and small light below memory stick opening are on). On-Off does not work, must unplug. Ink carriage does not move when cover is opened, so I cannot remove ink cartridges. There was an entry about this problem in the archive from 2009 but no solution that worked.

@tholzemer, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
If the blue wireless light is blinking, it means the printer is not connected to a wireless network.
How is the printer connected to the PC? Are you using a USB cable?
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue on the PC
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
If the print carriage is stuck and cannot move, it is a hardware issue with the printer. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Check for any paper jams inside the printer.
Perform the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this document.
Let me know how this goes.

How is the printer connected to the PC?
Were there any jams inside the printer? Is the print carriage still not moving?
Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Have you inserted a memory card into the printer?
If the Photo light next to the memory card slots is blinking, it means the product is accessing the memory card.
Also, check estimated ink levels, Replace any low or empty ink cartridges.
-
Press the Setup button
on the product control panel. The Setup Menu opens.
-
Press the down arrow
to select Tools, and then press OK. The Tools menu opens.
-
Press the down arrow
to select Display Estimated Ink Levels, and then press OK.
keep me posted for further assistance.

Connected via USB cable. No jams. Print cartridge will not move. Can not copy. Tried a memory card and nothing happens. It doesn't try to read it. It doesn't respond to any of the buttons except power. When I hit power it shows the HP logo on the small screen for a few seconds then it flashes a blue screen with a code of C2FE0178 for a second and then the four lights start flashing again. If I unplug it wait a few minutes and then plug it back in it looks like it flashes the blue screen and a C2FE0177 code. Then the four lights start flashing again.
