HP ENVY Inspire 7255e All-in-One Printer

Print problem with HP Envy Inspire.  "Photo tray tray problem". The photo dray is blocked.  Please adjust the tray and try again.  My question is, how do you adjust the photo tray?  Thank you.

@Jack408, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Photo Tray Problem" message on your HP ENVY Inspire 7255e typically means the tray is not seated correctly or there is an obstruction. Here’s how you can adjust and fix the issue:

Steps to Adjust the Photo Tray:

  1. Turn Off the Printer – Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall to avoid any movement issues.
  2. Open the Main Paper Tray – Pull out the main paper tray completely.
  3. Check for Obstructions – Ensure there’s no jammed paper, dust, or any small objects stuck in the photo tray area.
  4. Adjust the Photo Tray:
    • Locate the photo tray inside the main paper tray.
    • Make sure it is pushed all the way in and seated properly.
    • Move it slightly forward and backward to ensure it slides smoothly.
    • If it's stuck, gently lift and reposition it.
  5. Reload the Paper – Place 4x6 photo paper (glossy side down) in the photo tray, ensuring the guides are snug but not too tight.
  6. Reinsert the Tray – Push the entire paper tray firmly but gently back into place.
  7. Restart the Printer – Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Additional Troubleshooting:

  • Check for Firmware Updates – Go to HP Smart App > Printer Settings > Check for Updates.
  • Reset the Printer – If the issue persists, unplug the printer for 60 seconds and restart it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
