Brand new Officejet 5255 printer. Installed ink, printed test  page twice. Each time the graphic at the bottom looks like something went wrong. (missing print lines) When I try to scan the test print, the printer fails to recognize the print.

Hello,

In order to palliate this issue, please update the printer's firmware using the USB connection via the following HP link:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj5200_1925A_win/OJ5200_R1925A.exe

If the issue persists, please remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  1. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
  6. Turn the printer on.
  7. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration or alignment page, do so.

In case of need, do not hesitate to contact us.

Thanks so much. I had installed the latest firmware, but missed any instructions to shut down and unplug the printer. After following your instructions the test print was perfect and the printer aligned immediately.
